Hi, Peter, What a fantastic place! It was more than we expected – and we were expecting a lot. We wish the smoke would have left before we got here but we imagine the view is amazing. We had a wonderful time with the neighbours as well. They were so much fun! Thanks, Dan and Ruthie, August 11th, 2017

Chagai left before I could ask him to sign our guest book. But while here he was in awe of treed hills and mountains viewed from his suite deck. At home he had done some research on eagles. He was thrilled to see eagles on nearby tree tops calling and watching the bay waters for prey. He rose early this morning and went to our beach wearing my borrowed sandals. I asked his if he was going to try walking on the water but said no, he didn’t have the skills. With his local friend Chris he dipped beneath the water surface experiencing a mikveh cleanse. Peter
Thank you so much Peter and Norma for your warn hospitality and amazing breakfasts. Though we are away from home we have both never felt more at home. Best wishes to you and your future guests. Jonathan and Jenny, August 9th.

From the moment we walked in the door, it felt like home. Breathtaking views from the deck, spectacular morning sunrises at breakfast on the terrace, fabulous gardens, so peaceful and quiet, and of course, our charming hosts, Norma and Peter. Wonderful Host & Hostess. The cleanliness, décor, plus the breathtaking view from the large windows was heavenly, to say nothing of the walk to the beach!
We were professionally and royally treated. The presentation of the menu was impressive and we were no less impressed with the food from its arrival to the finish!
We would come again in a heartbeat!
Thank you again,

Recently Mike and Sandra joined their good friends John and Coreen for a weekend getaway at At the Shore B&B. Here they enjoy visiting over breakfast on the upper deck.
This 1967 Chevelle was purchased new by Peter’s parents. His father Allan drove it to his law office for several years then passed it to Peter’s mother Georgie. Georgie drove it until Allan retired in 1995 at which time the vehicle was parked unused. They gave it to Peter in 1997 who did a frame-off restoration which was finally completed in 2012. The photo shows Georgie with Peter’s daughter Karen. Georgie, now 95, has just seen the car for the first time on the road and registered. Karen remembers her family being picked up by Grandma and Grandpa with the Chevelle after church on Sundays and going to the A&W drive-in for hamburgers and root beer. It is a 2 door hard top, black vinyl roof, red interior with bucket seats, 327 engine.
Recent guests Les and Anita of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta snapped a photo of Norma and Peter as they prepared breakfasts. “Norma, your culinary talents are beyond description,” Les.
Here our resident blue heron takes an observation post atop a tall cedar tree on a neighbour’s property. Most times we see him at water’s edge fishing for his dinner. He’s a very shy fellow and spooks when approached even very quietly.
Romy and Armin from Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany are recent guests of At the Shore B&B. They were thrilled with their kayaking experience on the calm waters Sechelt Inlet seen here in their double kayak courtesy of Pedals and Paddles.
At the Shore B&B is a lovely and restful setting and we only wish we could stay longer. We truly appreciated your suggestions about where to go and what to see. That we didn’t get all the way to the Skookunchuck Narrows and Rapids was our mistiming. I guess this means that we’ll return to complete that adventure. Thank you for a wonderful place to rest and rejuvenate after a busy 10 work days in Alberta. Sydney and Chris, Grass Valley, California

After many years of providing wonderful accommodation and service to her guests, Nancy has closed the door of her very successful business.
Norma and I are very proud that she has allowed us to welcome her former guests to our At the Shore B&B.
Over the years we have enjoyed Nancy’s advice as we opened our B&B and referrals of her overflow of customers.
In a reprise of last year’s run Lisa again topped all female competitors with a time of 1:21:18. She is seen here being congratulated by Norma.
Our comfortable suites coupled with our focus on paying attention to detail as well as guest comfort and satisfaction has been the means to our success.
After a restful night in a comfortable bed, a hot shower and a tasty breakfast in The Hunker Down B&B many a guest questions what the friendly owner has done to justify the $200 per night fee. On the surface it appears he has just redecorated the spare bedroom and baked some great muffins. Perhaps a would-be operator thinks that is the extent of the operation.
Following is a brief account on the creation of our At the Shore B&B. The inspiration came to Norma and I during a month long journey through the Atlantic Maritimes staying in B&Bs.
Back home a one day seminar on operating a bed and breakfast convinced us we could be successful operators. We located and purchased an appropriate house on a 3/4 acre waterfront property on the west side of Porpoise Bay, 5 minutes from the village of Sechelt. The house had a lower level walkout to a deck and a magnificent panoramic view of the bay.
With the help of a local interior decorator we developed a lower level floor plan featuring two 600 square foot suites, a media room, an office, a hall and a storage room. With our building permit in hand the suites were created and decorated.
We then applied for membership in the local B&B association which gave us a wonderful support group. A local web designer produced a website for us and we had various printed materials created showcasing our suites. We then concentrated on advertizing.
We started with rack cards at the local visitors’ centre and joined some carefully chosen B&B websites. With some trepidation we welcomed our first guests and quickly became very comfortable sharing our home with strangers. We recorded income and expenses.
After 6 years of operation we decided our suites needed a theme. We chose to go maritime and added model sailing ships, framed marine prints, a few maritime knick knacks and books featuring the square riggers of the 18th century. Our comfortable suites coupled with our focus on paying attention to detail as well as guest comfort and satisfaction has been the means to our success.
At the Shore B&B is proud to serve Holy Crap Cereal.
This unique breakfast cereal was developed in Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast by Corin and Brian Mullins .

Sechelt Golf and Country Club is an 18 hole, par 72 links style course, designed and built by Olson, Beatty and Hnatiuk (1990-1992).
The course itself features generous fairways and large gently sloping greens, and there are just enough hazards to make the course challenging, while the multiple tee system allows players to golf at their own level.
It can be best described as a beautiful golf course where wildlife abounds and there are views of the snow capped coastal range and Porpoise Bay.
Two practice putting greens and a covered and lit driving range are also part of the complex.

TRAIL: Hidden Grove
This is a wonderful hike for a winter day. Easy access from the road. Stunning old growth trees.
Hiking Trail; Views
HIGHLIGHTS: The trail begins with easy walking in second growth past fire scarred veterans, and ends in majestic old growth fir and cedars. The Maple Wetland trail loops through lush ferns in a boggy zone thought to be the headwaters of Davis Brook and within sight of tall maples. The viewpoint begins easily from the Wetland Loop then rises steeply up a rock lined draw toward a view of Sechelt through the tops of old growth fir, arbutus, and pine. A short spur trail from the Grove uphill between rocky bluffs to regard the 27 foot circumference Douglas Fir.
ACCESS: From the Sunshine Coast Highway 101, turn north at the main traffic light intersecting Wharf Avenue. Turn right at the four way stop at Wharf Avenue and Sechelt Inlet Road. Proceed 6.6 km to Sandy Hook Road. Park here and look for the Hidden Grove sign on the right hand side of the road. The trail begins here.
